An annoying bug I've run into a few times recently has been solved - Vulkan games hanging after alt-tab should be fixed with this new Steam Client update.
Released October 21st, it's a small update overall but an important one, especially with the updated certificate revocation lists. If you missed the news recently, 8 compromised TLS certs were discovered and announced by eMudhra. What's the issue? As they said: "An attacker with the private key of any of the compromised intermediate CAs could impersonate any website or service" - oh dear.
All the Steam changes are below.
Key ChangesGeneral
- Fixed some cases the Steam Service Error dialog was showing incorrectly if you quit/restarted Steam quickly.
- Fixed an error displaying dates for users in British Columbia.
- Updated certificate revocation lists.
Remote Play
- Fixed a memory leak using NVENC to stream H.264 using unlimited bandwidth from Windows computers.
Linux
- Fixed Vulkan games hanging after alt-tab.
- Fixed a case where Steam updater UI would fail to show for some users.
MacOS
- Fixed client crash when opening some browser windows.
