Just like Sweden, France, and Korea, Team Saudi Arabia is now one step closer to making history at Overwatch World Cup 2026 (OWWC 2026). Following the team’s victory against Spain 3-1, coach Mohammad “iMOH97” Al-saidan and Abdualziz “TVNT” Altmimi sat down with esports.gg for an interview.
Team Saudi Arabia prepares for the OWWC 2026 semifinals
As noted, Team Saudi Arabia players secured their place in the OWWC 2026 semifinals at BlizzCon thanks to a 3-1 victory over Team Spain. Now locking in for another match, this time against Team Sweden, iMOH97 and TVNT shared with esports.gg that they’re very confident in their abilities. To both of them, OWWC 2026 is another chance to do a trophy lift.
“I think we started good, not the best, not the worst, but we managed to take the win, and I’m really focusing on our match tomorrow,” iMOH97 said, referring to the match against Spain. “We really believe that we can be in the grand final to get the trophy again.”
He continued, “I think we have a lot of success as individual players. They already play at the highest international levels. Some of them have won, some of them got second place. It’s really great to have players who are on the top. We are here to bring it back again.”

Meanwhile, TVNT was tight-lipped about the team’s plans for the semifinals. However, he did say that Team Saudi Arabia has specific strategies for every single team they face.
“I can’t say the plans, but you will see a good plan tomorrow and something better than what we did today,” he laughed.
Team Saudi Arabia players face Team Sweden on Day 2 of BlizzCon 2026, with the match happening live on Sept. 13 at the Anaheim Convention Center’s dedicated Overwatch esports arena.

In his interview with esports.gg, iMOH97 also shared what seeing all the love at BlizzCon 2026 means to him and Team Saudi Arabia.
“We love the fans that traveled across the world to come to support us. There are some people who came from Saudi to support us. People — wherever they come from — we really appreciate this,” he said, adding that he likes how his team’s love for Overwatch esports can bring so many people together.
“It means a lot for us,” TVNT added. “Everyone supporting us anywhere, even from behind the TV, means a lot.”
TVNT and iMOH97 react to new Overwatch hero
As for parting words, iMOH97 and TVNT shared their thoughts about the new hero, Doctrine, with us. For context, Doctrine is a new support hero with a modern twist on the vampire fantasy. BlizzCon attendees test him out at the venue, and he’s arriving in the game for everyone in Overwatch Season 5.
“I think he’s going to be so popular. Really, really popular. And they need to nerf him before he’s going in tournaments,” TVNT said.
“I think the same,” iMOH97 laughed. “He’s a really, really strong hero. He’s gonna be strong when they put him into the game.”
