Usually, when a game receives a mixed reception, it comes down to its core features: it does some things well and others poorly, or it takes a big swing that some gamers love, and others bounce off of. Rarely is it the case that a game is widely agreed to be excellent and fun, yet it still produces a large segment of its player base with big, legitimate complaints, as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls currently has.

That’s because, as great as the game is, offering fighter action with some of your favorite comic characters — that’s only if you’re able to actually get it working correctly, and a big factor in whether you can or can’t comes down to the platform on which you’re trying to play it. While console gamers are having a great time with Tokon, and it’s generated a lot of early enthusiasm, the PC version of the game has been significantly damaged by its performance problems, which are so extreme that gamers have discovered cracked versions actually run better than legal purchases due to bypassing the problem-causing anti-cheat and anti-piracy software.

Tokon Director Acknowledges And Apologizes For PC Players’ Struggles

With the game now in the public’s hands for more than a month, Game Director Kazuto “Pachi” Sekine addressed fans in a statement in which he both shared the joy of seeing the positive response to the game as well as acknowledged that this has not been every player’s experience:

“However, we also recognize that the launch period was impacted by stability issues on PC, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration this has caused our players,” the statement read. “It was never our intention for players to be unable to enjoy the game as we envisioned, and we are currently making progress on improvements to the PC version so that everyone can enjoy the game to the fullest.”

The post was also shared on the game’s official Steam page, along with a more in-depth look at some of the changes coming in the months ahead. While there is not currently a timeline available for when PC gamers should expect a more stable and enjoyable experience, talk of progress toward a solution may provide some solace for fans who want to be able to speak as positively about it as their console-playing peers.
